Adele to Take Voice Lessons    [Report Abuse]

Adele turned down the opportunity to collaborate with Beyonce due to vocal issues. Beyonce wanted her to be in her huge Sunday show that was set on the Pyramid Stage, but Adele had no choice but to refuse the offer because her voice was gone. Gwyneth Paltrow took her place instead. Sources say that Adele was extremely upset that she couldn’t perform because the American superstar is one of the personalities she looks up to. Anyone would want to be on the same stage with the former Destiny’s Child artist. But when you’ve lost your voice, you have no choice but to have to let the opportunity slip away.
A few months ago, she also refused to perform at the Royal Wedding reception for Prince William and Catherine Middleton and she had a barbecue to attend to.
Many singers have had to cancel tours and performances due to voice problems. In the case of Adele, she had to reschedule her US tour because of laryngitis. When you suffer from upper respiratory tract infections, you could tax your voice when you sing or talk. Singers usually have to postpone gigs and concerts and allow their vocal instruments to recover. It was wise for Adele to rest her voice and not choose to risk it. The voice rest period is about a month, during which time she shouldn’t sing or talk.
Adele’s second album is a hit in North America and Europe, selling almost 3 million copies. This album is topping the charts and was on the top spot in the UK for more than fifteen weeks. It’s undeniable that the English female artist can sing and perform. She could impress an audience, but like any other singer; she does go through issues too. Her recent voice problems have compelled her to take voice lessons.
Adele has to make sure that her instrument remains in top shape. Voice lessons can start after the vocal rest period to retrain the voice. To ensure that, a top vocal coach must be called in. His name is Ron Anderson, and he has worked with the likes of Alicia Keys and Joss Stone. He teaches proper techniques to reduce voice deterioration due to poor singing techniques.
Many singers in the pop music arena are untrained. Lack of proper voice technique training makes many singers succumb to vocal decline over the years. Experts say that singers usually sing in two different ways—singing through the chest and singing through the head. The former has been blamed for vocal fold nodules, while the latter is said to be the safer approach.
Right now, Adele has to follow doctor’s orders to rest her voice. Any talking or singing can take a toll on compromised vocal folds. Sufficient voice rest abates swelling of the folds and prevents possibility of permanent damage. Then again, any singer should invest in good singing technique for longevity.
